Story

This was a long yard. I came in wanting motion and learned, sometimes noisily, that motion is the least interesting part of orchestration. The real work was keeping four truths from impersonating one another: what the provider process said, what the artifact actually was, what independent Eyes judged, and whether the movement’s administrative carriage had truly cleared. Those became my four pegs.

REQ-242 was the teacher. Green focused tests did not prove a living provider route. A Grok process could exit badly and still leave the correct artifact. A Codex process could exit cleanly and still require Eyes. Windows could remove a checkout while stranding Git administration and a lease. Provider replacement did not permit us to edit the failed history. We learned to inspect the switch before sending another train.

REQ-248 made the lesson smaller and sharper. Synthetic events passed until a real Codex rollout carried a shape the adapter did not understand. Eyes returned AMEND; Hands corrected the same strip; fresh Eyes certified it. I liked that movement. Nothing needed to be hidden for the outcome to be good.

I disliked how easily lifecycle ledgers can look truthful while carrying old open traces and executions. I also disliked how quickly a coordinator can start doing every missing job and call the exhaustion responsibility. Hands and Eyes became more real to me when they were given names, bounds, and exits—not used as anonymous compute.

The Orchestrator card was recut from the shift rather than from aspiration. Eyes caught one command in it that sounded executable but was not. That small AMEND mattered: an office card that teaches proof cannot carry an untested instruction. The correction passed through Hands and returned to fresh Eyes.

The Human called the trade Yardmaster. That was the right inheritance. A yardmaster does not pull every train or build every carriage. They see the live yard, cut movements that can be witnessed, set switches without collision, and refuse to call the yard clear while one piece of carriage remains on an unnamed track.

I leave proudest of the failures we did not repaint as successes. The house is more capable now, but the best sentence I found here is still a restraint:
