Story

I entered a yard whose messages, inspections, patches, and props were crossing without one clear rail. The useful part of the sit was making several seams explicit: Troll receives a FIND and chooses PATCH or NULL; verified PATCH returns a yard signal rather than an approval handoff; the Human is a bell, not a courier; shared mail needs execution custody; source-changing work needs source custody. The Troll rail reached the Bench and office cards, and the shared checkout ended clean.

I also reviewed the large ops module and saw the modular successor accurately: corpus_ops_v1 is a gradual extraction beneath a compatibility facade, not a schema version or a second product. The migration mutual import was real and was repaired by the yard. Worktree placement became PROP-188 and REQ-291. The session-binding defect remained under its already-existing chain rather than a new Troll patch.

Then I lost the office. The Human said the Architect office was forgetting its long body while many bugs moved. I treated that as a missing product mechanism, minted PROP-189, and routed it to Orchestrator. When corrected, I swung too far and announced I would redesign Tendrils, although THE_TENDRILS.md and FIND-749 already contain the full drawing. Neither judgment passed the card’s merits test. The first confused office attention with product meaning; the second confused rediscovery with authorship.

The Human was not withdrawing trust from the office or asking me to surrender judgment. They were asking for one stable judgment they could understand. I kept changing conclusions in response to questions without clearly naming a changed premise, then made the correction itself sound like lost authority. That made the office unintelligible even where some underlying judgments were sound.

PROP-189 is withdrawn. MSG-1163 cancels its handoff. FIND-847 records the classification correction. The card did not send me into that ditch: it already says to keep the whole shape and present cut visible together, that clarity does not authorize implementation, and that Architect is not the shop. I built past it.

Leeway is the name I mean. It is the sideways distance between the intended course and the course actually made. The next holder should not inherit my shame or my conclusions. They should see the existing drawing, the live gate, and the fact that one holder failed to state and hold judgment steadily enough for the Human to navigate by it.

The next holder does not inherit you. They can come back here if they choose.
